Information Technology Foundation Program

Job Description

The Information Technology Foundation Program is a 2-3 year rotational program includes assignments in applications, infrastructure, or security. You will have the opportunity to provide technical support and enhancements to existing systems and/or infrastructure. Assist more experienced application and/or infrastructure personnel in developing solutions to customer related requests and/or system problems. This program supports your learning of our core business and builds a strong foundation for IT Careers. Upon completing the program, you will have the opportunity to make your next career move as either an individual contributor or a future leader. This program is ideal for those building foundational skills in this field, generally within the first 0-2 years of their career.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary but may include various combinations of the following duties.
• Provides application and/or technical infrastructure support, including problem identification and resolution.
• Follows established development and support processes, including but not limited to, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) or related methodologies.
• Works with business partners to gather requirements for technical solutions and troubleshoots system related issues.
• Under direction of more experienced team members, assists in the configuration, implementation and upgrades of existing systems and/or infrastructure.
• Provides support and input to projects, including task planning and execution.
• Works within well-defined objectives and instructions from systems staff for use in designing, testing and documentation.
• Works to automate tasks and processes with scripting and automation tools.

• Strives to meet the quality standards set forth by management.
• Ensures availability when necessary for off-shift and weekend support functions.
• Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of application. Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA through graduation
• Degree must be completed by hire date in one of the following degree programs: Information Technology majors (Computer Science, Managment Information Systems, Data Science, AI) or other relevant degrees.
• Authorized to work in U.S.

Desired Qualifications:
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of SDLC, ITSM or related methodologies.
• Understanding of one or more programming and/or scripting languages (e.g. Java, .Net, SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to gain a general understanding of core business procedures and operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and recommend process changes that improve the overall implementation, maintenance and support of applications and/or technical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply basic math and data analysis skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary for this role ranges from $79,800.00 - $131,280.00. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar. Total rewards package, beyond base salary included:

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
