What You Will Do

The Caterpillar Accelerated Leadership Development Program is designed to provide experienced professionals with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience that enables them to make a real-world impact. MIT LGO graduates who join Caterpillar, a proud LGO partner company, will have the opportunity to complete a multi-phase program that includes:

* Participant choice of three rotational assignments that include but are not limited to the following areas:

  • New Technology Validation
  • Autonomy Design
  • Product Electrification
  • Product Value Chain Design
  • Strategic Procurement
  • Lean Innovation
  • Manufacturing Operations
  • Field Assignment (Mine Site Autonomy Deployment or Services Growth)

* Mentorship by a senior Caterpillar Executive

* Intentional Leadership Development & Experiential Learning Opportunities.

* One 12–18-month developmental international assignment

What You Have – Skills and Experiences

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute your unique skills and experiences. Below are some of the most critical skills.

  • Analytical skills, initiating ideas, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, theory, and engineering experience gained through projects, internships, and/or relevant work experiences
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering for a manufacturing environment, ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention
  • Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain, and effectively apply new skills & knowledge
  • Success in collaborating with others of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities
  • Strong written, and verbal communication skills
  • Participate in, and build on our inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment
  • Ensure all team member’s contributions are recognized and valued

Degree Requirements:

  • Currently attending a 2-year accredited university/college MBA program and have completed an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science Degree

Other Requirements:

  • Expected graduation by August 2026
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate domestically

Top candidates will also have:

  • Hands-on Experience: Participation in campus design or competition teams, or similar hands-on technical projects.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership in team settings or project management roles.
  • Industry Exposure: Previous technical internship, co-op, or other relevant professional experience.
  • Communication Strength: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Summary Pay Range:

$144,960.00 - $217,320.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
