About the role

As an Android QA Automation Engineer (SDET), you will make an impact by developing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks that ensure the delivery of high-quality Android applications. You will be a valued member of the Android Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to drive quality across the mobile platform. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in mobile test automation, QA engineering, or software testing for Android platforms.

In this role, you will:

· Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for Android applications using Jetpack Compose and Playwright.

· Execute and maintain automated test scripts for functional, unit, integration, and UI testing.

· Apply advanced debugging and profiling techniques to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and ANRs.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure test coverage and quality standards are met across CI/CD pipelines.

· Champion clean architecture and SOLID principles in test design and automation strategy.

What you need to have to be considered:

· Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose (highest priority).

· Strong knowledge of Android Architecture Components: ViewModel, Room, LiveData/StateFlow, Navigation.

· Proficiency in MVVM, Clean Architecture, SOLID Principles, and Repository Pattern.

· Experience in Unit Testing, UI Testing, Integration Testing, and Test Automation using frameworks like Maestro.

· Proven ability to develop and maintain test automation frameworks.

· Experience creating and executing automated test scripts using Playwright.

These will help you stand out:

· Advanced debugging and profiling using Android Studio Profiler and handling ANRs.

· Proficiency in Kotlin and Coroutines.

· Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins.

· Knowledge of advanced networking using REST and GraphQL with tools like Retrofit and OkHttp.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to $112,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
