The Regulatory Services department is looking for a Community Safety Officer to join our team for a short term assignment.

You will be a vital part of the Community Compliance and Prosecutions Division, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents by enforcing local laws and regulations.

What You'll Do

As a Community Safety Officer, your primary role is to ensure a safe and healthy environment by implementing and enforcing key acts and policies, with a focus on animal management.

Key responsibilities include:

Animal Management: Enforce legislation such as the Domestic Animals Act 1994, the Impounding of Livestock Act 1994, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986. This involves educating the public on responsible pet ownership, investigating nuisance complaints and dog attacks, and managing impounded animals.The ideal candidate will have experience in community safety services and a strong ability to interpret legislation and policy.

Essential requirements include:

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to gain cooperation from the public.
  • The ability to prepare reports and routine correspondence.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Extensive experience in handling domestic animals and livestock.
  • A current Australian driver's license and a satisfactory National Criminal History Check.

Please note that this role may require you to work evenings or weekends as part of a rostered on-call schedule.
