Role Definition
As an Associate Design Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in mechanical and hydro investigations and design activities for turbomachinery products. This role involves supporting engineering teams in analysing Shop, Field Issues and failures, developing design improvements, and preparing technical documentation for Solar Turbine Packaging systems. Designing packaging systems and equipment layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of turbomachinery components.
  • Assist in creating and updating 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools (e.g., Creo).
  • Collaborate with design engineers to implement changes based on investigation findings
  • Participate in root cause analysis of Shop, Field Issues/failures and performance issues.
  • Provide design input for corrective actions and product improvements.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including design reports, investigation summaries.
  • Independently investigate mechanical, hydro, shop, and field issues related to Solar Turbine products packaging systems.
  • Present and review your work in design review meetings to ensure alignment with engineering objectives.
  • Clearly communicate technical information related to your area of expertise.
  • Apply standard engineering principles, concepts, and techniques in mechanical design and drafting/CAD.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and apply analytical/scientific methods.
  • Utilize engineering analysis techniques effectively.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with gas turbine manufacturing processes, quality standards, design methodologies, and analysis practices.
  • Knowledge on Gas Turbines and Packaging systems & components are added advantages.
  • Coordinate with several functional team to progress the design intent (Hydro/Electrical/HMI Groups)
  • Strong knowledge on material properties and their performance considering offshore & Onshore loading conditions
  • Excellent in modelling techniques using Creo parametric / Autodesk
  • Good exposure to the use of Product Lifecycle Management tool – Windchill
  • Good Exposure on ASME/API/ISO/ANSI & DIN

In addition, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge of discipline-related industry standards, including ASME B31.3. Comprehensive knowledge with Creo applications and strong knowledge of design and drafting techniques to include fabrication drawings. Experience with Solar Turbines strongly preferred.

Degree Requirement
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant experience. Minimum 2-5 years of Turbomachinery Packaging Systems Mechanical Design Good communication, organizational, teaming and analytical skills are a must. Working knowledge of computer aided design & drafting CADD system (Creo) Knowledge of gas turbine operations, and driven equipment Field experience, knowledge on Windchill, BOP & Promis-e would be an added advantage.
