Role Definition
This position will be part of a multi-disciplined engineering team within our Caterpillar India organization that provides engineering solutions for customer’s Gas Compression and Power Generating stations for EPC Projects.
The identified candidate will be a member of a cross-functional team that Involves in FEED, Detail engineering, Procurement, inhouse Fabrication and Commissioning activities and ensues all performance metrics are achieved.
Responsibilities
- The candidate should possess a minimum of 6-8 years of industry experience in engineering / design execution and associated applications
- Designing of steel structures for various projects, ensuring they meet industry standards and project requirements.
- Ensure to select appropriate material for steel structures based on factors such as load-bearing capacity, environmental conditions, and project specifications
- Ensure all steel structures comply with relevant specifications, codes, and standards.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and managing project timelines and budgets.
- Diagnosing and reviewing 3D model issues and performing 2D drawing generation and review.
- Ensuring all the drawings comply with relevant specifications, codes and standards.
- Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents. Participating in build analysis for product components.
- Preparation MTO, BOM from Structural 3D Models.
Degree Requirement - Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering.
Skill Descriptors
Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Structural Member design, Connection design, Foundation Design, Pipe Rack design, Loading and load assessment.
- Preparation of Technical Specification for Structural Components, RFQ finalization & Vendor Drawings review.
- Flexible and quick to learn global developments in EPC- Oil & Gas projects technologies and adopt.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Advance Steel, Revit, Tekla, STAAD Pro. AutoCad & E3D
- Proficiency in Navis Work manage.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Ability to manage projects, including scheduling and coordinating with other disciplines.

- Identifies issues and communicates with other engineers, project managers and stakeholders.
- Co-ordinate with decision makers in own environment and cites examples of past decisions.

Preferred Competencies:
- Knowledge of Structural Engineering Design Codes & Standards such as ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, OSHA etc
- 3D Modelling using Autodesk Advance Steel, Revit.
- 3D Model Review, Clash Check and Resolution.
- Uses a structured approach in analyzing and resolving technical problems.
- Continuous improvement of the design activity in terms of technical knowledge, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Provides examples or case studies demonstrating technical excellence in actual business scenarios.
Candidate should Well Versed with Oil and gas EPC projects with exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
