About the Role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Backend Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large project environment with solid technical abilities and strong development background in Java along with experience in Cloud Implementation and a proven track record of delivering high-quality scalable software applications.

Job Location: Sunnyvale, California – Onsite

What you'll do:

· Deliver medium-to-large scale engineering projects by translating requirements into scalable solutions, writing code, testing, and ensuring timely delivery.

· Work with small teams, including offshore members, by providing technical guidance, reviewing designs and code, and driving quality outcomes.

· Troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical queries and support business needs.

· Drive project discovery and design phases with cross-functional teams to define architecture and secure approvals.

· Apply technical expertise to improve development practices.

· Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to implement business solutions and adapt to changing priorities.

· Promote compliance with company policies and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.

What you'll bring:

• 4 – 8 years of experience with Java.
• Proficient in core Java and J2EE technologies
• Extensive experience with Java Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
• Skilled in designing and developing large-scale microservices for high-performance, scalable platforms
• Deep understanding of NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB and MongoDB
• Strong expertise in messaging systems, particularly Kafka
• Practical experience with cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

· Solid grasp of architectural design principles for building resilient and scalable systems

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until September 15^th, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 - $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
