As a Bakery Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our Phoenix facility, ensuring smooth production, packaging, and delivery while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. This role requires a strong leadership presence, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to hold yourself and your team accountable to deadlines, quality standards, and operational goals.

Daily Operations & Oversight

  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings to clearly communicate expectations, assign tasks, and confirm follow-through
  • Oversee all aspects of bakery operations, including production, packaging, and deliveries
  • Set production schedules and workflow to meet wholesale and daily production demands, proactively adjusting for changes in orders or staffing
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and organized work environment with a consistent leadership presence on the floor during peak hours
  • Follow up on assigned tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Perform additional duties as needed

Purchasing & Inventory Management

  • Manage purchasing and inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and vendors are providing competitive rates and solutions
  • Conduct quarterly inventory checks and maintain proper stock rotation and sanitation standards
  • Track inventory levels daily and place necessary orders to prevent shortages or overstocking
  • Work within budget constraints to track and manage monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

Staff Management & Scheduling

  • Develop and manage weekly team schedules, approve payroll, and monitor overtime and PTO requests
  • Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed before the first scheduled shift and assist in onboarding
  • Approve or decline time-off requests via 7Shifts and ADP
  • Monitor and approve sick pay requests and PTO in ADP
  • Add employees to Slack for workplace communication
  • Schedule and conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with team members and shift leads to address performance, provide coaching, and reinforce expectations
  • Lead regular team meetings to share updates, set priorities, and strengthen team alignment
  • Conduct performance reviews: 30-day Check-In for New Hires, 90-Day Review for New Hires, Ongoing Quarterly Reviews (every 3 months)
  • Partner with Regional Manager and Human Resources to handle disciplinary actions, ensuring feedback is clear, timely, and documented
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with the team to prevent misunderstandings or gaps in accountability

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage bakery email communications, including wholesale accounts, seasonal updates, and order management
  • Submit weekly receipts and invoices to the accounting team
  • Ensure timely approval of payroll submissions
  • Maintain accurate records of employee hours, sick pay, and PTO

Equipment & Technology Proficiency

  • Train employees on bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, ranges, and proofers
  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of all production and packaging equipment
  • Utilize software and technology efficiently, including MacBook, printer, Excel, Word, Netsuite, ADP, and 7Shifts

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce good manufacturing practices and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness across production and packaging areas
  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and accountability among employees
  • Address workplace conduct issues promptly and enforce disciplinary measures as necessary

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bakery management or a related field
  • Proven ability to follow through on commitments, hold teams accountable, and proactively solve problems
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to model professionalism consistently
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including Excel, Wherefour, ADP, and 7Shifts
  • Knowledge of bakery equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to manage vendor relations and inventory effectively
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Prolonged periods of standing and repetitive movements

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off: 1 week (40 hours) annually, must be used within 12 months; no carryover or payout upon separation.
  • Sick Pay: Up to 40 hours annually, with rollover per company handbook.
