We are a team of creative engineers working on interfacing Android Automotive apps to vehicle cameras, sensors, location, and digital cockpit controls, paving the way for next-generation perception use-cases on automotive.

Modern cars are rapidly transforming into full-fledged connected computers on wheels with increased compute power, cameras, sensors and wireless connectivity. Furthermore, the ECU consolidation trend in the automotive industry is driving electrical architectures where automotive cameras, sensors and controls are accessible from the Infotainment Head Unit (IHU). This increased compute capacity, access to cameras, sensors and controls is a perfect recipe for enabling innovative perception use cases in Android Automotive.

Automotive industry executives say there will be more change in their business in the next 5 years than they have seen in the last 50 years. The Android Auto team collaborates with vehicle manufacturers to develop and deliver on this massive opportunity, building on a proven embedded platform to create a leading Assistant-powered, navigation, entertainment, and communication vehicle system, which will be delivered to specialized people-moving devices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of engineers focused on developing novel Android platform software and related technologies for vehicles.
  • Learn and develop expertise in automotive and Android technologies, as they relate to camera integrations and applications.
  • Design and implement new camera-related features and improvements for the Android Automotive platform.
  • Enable image processing-centric solutions on Android Automotive vehicles to meet our Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners' needs.
  • Pursue efforts for improving image quality in the camera frameworks.
