Job Purpose:

To lead the architecture, deployment, and management of scalable, secure, multi-tenant cloud platforms using Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and JupyterHub for advanced data science and ML workloads.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • OpenShift / Kubernetes Management
    • Architect and administer high-availability OpenShift clusters (on-premise or cloud-based).
    • Develop Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, StatefulSets, PVCs, NetworkPolicies).
    • Configure RBAC, service accounts, admission controllers, and access policies.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot clusters using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK or Loki.

  • JupyterHub / Notebook Administration
    • Deploy, configure, and scale multi-user JupyterHub environments on Kubernetes/OpenShift.
    • Integrate JupyterHub with enterprise authentication systems (OAuth, SAML, LDAP).
    • Manage persistent storage for user notebooks and enforce project/team-level isolation.
    • Support custom runtime environments, libraries, and kernels for data science teams.

  • Cloud Architecture & DevOps
    • Design hybrid or cloud-native architectures leveraging Red Hat OpenShift and Azure.
    • Develop storage strategies using CephFS, S3-compatible solutions, and volume provisioning.
    • Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
    • Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and compliance processes are in place.

  • Security & Governance
    • Apply platform-level security controls (SCCs, secrets management, encryption).
    • Enforce secure multi-tenant design and data access restrictions.
    • Enable auditing and monitoring by integrating with SIEM or audit platforms.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or DevOps roles.
  • Production-grade experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes (5+ years).
  • Hands-on experience with JupyterHub or similar notebook platforms in a multi-user setting.
  • Proficiency with YAML, Helm charts, and Operator frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, OpenShift), container security, and networking.
  • Familiar with dynamic volume provisioning and storage integration (Ceph, NFS, S3).
  • Experience managing RBAC, IAM policies, and TLS-based ingress controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of data science workflows and personas.
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow, Apache Iceberg, or Spark on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Kubeflow, Open Data Hub, or Red Hat AI/ML solutions.
  • Relevant certifications such as CKA or Red Hat OpenShift Administrator.
