About the roleThe Cloud Engineer is pivotal in managing and optimizing core infrastructure and services that empower all engineering teams across the organization. This role focuses on cost control, ensuring security, and driving automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability. The Cloud Engineer builds and maintains cloud hygiene practices, provides visibility into infrastructure costs, and oversees SaaS product permissions, contracts, costs, and licenses. By fostering best practices in automation and resource management, the role ensures the stability, security, and cost-effectiveness of the organization’s foundational systems, enabling seamless delivery of business objectives.What will you be doing?Contributing to the design, build, and operational management of a highly scalable, secure and available infrastructure operating 24x7Ensuring that Auctane infrastructure platforms are secure and can scale to support rapid growth in transaction volumes during peak business periods. Limit or eliminate exposure to single points of failureDesign and build infrastructure platforms with the highest security levels. Respond swiftly to new and emerging security threats and vulnerabilities.Creating tools and automated workflow capabilities to enable our software engineers to test and promote code across the different environments with maximum velocityCollaborating with software engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle and promoting an operational mindset to ensure the ongoing successConstantly improving the platform by introducing new technologies where appropriate, driving efficiency, and reducing technical debt.Work with engineering teams on solution design, capacity planning, and performance.Promote and implement system, infrastructure, and operational best practices.Championing cloud native design and ensuring our cloud environment is highly available, resilient, and cost-efficient.Provide out-of-hours support as part of a scheduled rota or critical project delivery.Ensure data stores are handling data according to our policies.What are we looking for?BS or MS in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Information Security/Assurance, Internal Audit, or equivalent years of experience.Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP in a production environment Demonstrated experience and thorough understanding of the pillars of Cloud Engineering (Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost optimization, Observability), and a willingness to apply, discuss, and improve understanding and context of those ideasExperience with containerisation and orchestrationHands-on Linux and Windows skills, coupled with a great understanding of DevOps principlesScripting skills: preferably Bash/PythonExperience with Terraform and configuration management tools -- A passion for immutable infrastructure as codeFocused operational mindset and passion for observabilityComfortable working with multiple teams and balancing their needsVerbal and written communication skillsAnalytical by nature and enjoys troubleshooting and solving complex System Engineering problemsExperience creating highly available systems and scalable architecturesExperience supporting network protocols, including IP, TCP, HTTP, DNS,and SSLAbility to balance multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience in enterprise-level storage and network technologiesConstantly striving for automation and efficiencyExperience working in an Agile environmentExperience working in a cross-functional or development teamExperience with serverless technologiesWilling to attend conferences, webinars, and meet-ups, and share the learningTech stackAmazon Web Services, GCPLinux//Windows Automation,ScriptingKubernetesNetwork protocols and multiple levels (TCP/IP, HTTP(S), IPSEC, etc)AI Engineering as a emergent skillWhat do we offer?💸 Clear and transparent compensation plan. The salary range is up to 50000€.
