We’re looking for an empathetic professional who’s passionate about pets to make a difference on our Pet Claims team.
A CLX Pet Advocate is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and processing claims submitted by policyholders for their pets’ medical care. They evaluate veterinary records, invoices, and policy details to determine eligibility, ensure accuracy in reimbursement amounts.. Pet Advocates work directly with Pet Specialists, policyholders, and veterinary clinics to ensure all necessary information is present, make coverage decisions, and help provide updates on claim status. Their role blends customer service, medical understanding, and insurance knowledge to make fair, timely, and accurate decisions that support both pets and their families.
In this role you’ll work closely with a variety of equally pet-obsessed people. We’ll look to you to settle the most complex pet medical claims while surpassing customer expectations along the way.
Organize and prioritize daily tasks in order to resolve claims quickly
Explain coverage decisions (including letters of determination) in plain English, without relying on jargon
Document claim files accurately with claim determination based on medical records and policy provisions
Obtain additional documentation when necessary to complete the claim file
Navigate medical records on the most complex medical cases to determine claim eligibility
Work closely with other CLX team members to provide world-class service to our customers
5+ years of recent small animal vet tech experience; ER/specialty, strongly preferred
1+ years in a CLX Specialist role (for internal candidates only)
Consistently exemplify Lemonade’s values in all interactions with customers and colleagues
Ability to obtain and maintain P&C licensure
Prior pet claim handling, pet insurance knowledge, and existing P&C licensure strongly preferred
A love for animals and empathy for pets and pet parents/owners

Time management skills & the ability to juggle competing tasks/priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Big-hearted & customer-obsessed nature
Comfortable with, and adaptable to, new technology and business tools

College Degree preferred

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
