About the role
As a Senior Manager, IT Portfolio Management, you will make an impact by leading strategic portfolio planning and governance for commercial IT initiatives. You will be a valued member of the Portfolio Management team and work collaboratively with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the definition, prioritization, and execution of the commercial IT portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable value delivery.
  • Drive governance processes including business case development, performance tracking, and risk management.
  • Oversee fiscal planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Implement standardized processes for demand planning, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and portfolio reporting.
  • Foster innovation by identifying and enabling emerging technologies that enhance commercial capabilities.

Work model – Hybrid

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Guadalajara, Mexico. What you must have to be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT portfolio management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale programs.
  • Deep domain expertise in the Life Sciences industry, including working knowledge of GxP regulations, compliance frameworks, and industry-specific standards.
  • Expertise in portfolio management frameworks (e.g., SAFe, PMI).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial planning, and resource optimization.

These will help you succeed

  • Leadership experience in cross-functional environments with matrixed accountability.
  • Certifications in Agile, PMI, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Generative AI platforms.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to foster inclusive collaboration across diverse teams and perspectives.
