Role Definition:
As a Design Engineer, you are responsible for design and development of new components and products, and implementation of new technologies to meet requirements of NPI, cost reduction and localization projects. You will broadly work with cross function teams, including engineering team, NPI team, purchasing team, receiving facility quality team, supply chain team, supplier, etc. to ensure goals are achieved.
Job Description
• Mechanical design (including VOC collection, concept design, detail design, creating 3D model and 2D drawings, failure analysis, etc.) to meet product development targets and client requirements.
• Lead component development, include but not limited to work w/ purchasing on quote and review, comprehensively assess the supply base and propose supplier, APQP, proceed Gateway review for sourcing decision, lead the development and validation, review PPAP, etc.
• Assisting supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance. Overseeing the efforts of drafting and testing specialists.
• Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents. Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.
• Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Participating in machine build and resolving NPI, CPI, maintenance issues
• Provide engineering support to component localization and development
• Demonstrate strong customer focus to meet customer needs from PQVC by applying new technology, designing new components, improving manufacturing processes/methods, etc.
• The job involves meeting with global team in the evening and 10%-25% travel based on project need
Required Skills

• Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Ability to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts.
• Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts; modeling capability of casting or forging components.
• Product Design: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
• Product Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor or master degree in an accredited Engine / Automobile / Material / Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
• Drivetrain system and related components (transmission, axle, torque converter, shaft, etc.) design and manufacturing experiences, especially for rotating components
• Good project management skills
• Manufacturing knowledge and experience on forging, casting, machining, inspection
• Good English skill in reading, writing, and speaking
