Job Title: Engineering Materials Coordinator
Salary: £26,800 - £32,500 depending on background / SG18
Contract: Full time & permanent
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a proactive and organised individual to support our engineering development builds by managing prototype material orders and ensuring timely delivery. Working across our Backhoe Loader (BHL), Compact Wheel Loader (CWL), and Telehandler (TH) product groups, you’ll play a key role in keeping projects on track by coordinating with suppliers, tracking spend and collaborating with supply chain and logistics teams.
What you will do:
As an Engineering Materials Coordinator, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Coordinate prototype material orders across BHL, CWL, and TH product groups, ensuring timely procurement to support engineering development builds.
Raise and manage purchase orders with internal and external suppliers, maintaining accountability for order accuracy and delivery timelines.
Track and report material availability, proactively identifying delays or risks that could impact project milestones.
Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to resolve issues with critical parts, ensuring smooth flow of materials into Desford operations.
Maintain and own a material expenditure tracker by product line/project, providing accurate spend data to budget owners for financial planning.
Review supplier performance and schedule adherence, escalating concerns and supporting resolution to maintain project continuity.

Supplier Management: Understands how to manage supplier relationships and track orders, deliveries, and documentation. Maintains accurate records and meets reporting requirements. Confident using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and procurement systems to support day-to-day supplier coordination.
Top candidates will also have:
Experience using MRP systems such as Glovia or SAP to support planning and inventory control
Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier portals
Confidence working with digital tools in a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint

Training & Development
As part of this role, you will receive training in Caterpillar’s purchasing and procurement tools to support your job function. You will also be taught how to operate our machines with driver training, as we encourage all our engineering team to be familiar with the functions of the products we work on and operate them regularly.
