Job Summary:
Provides direction and engineering support for complex design and development of technologies, with a strong emphasis on machining, machining technology and supporting processes. Role is designed to be an enterprise resource supporting all business units and facilities with the development of machining processes and procedures.
What You Will Do:
Leading technical design, development, and testing for all machining technologies in the Caterpillar enterprise as well as maintaining strong industry and academic connections to understand advancements and trends in machining technology.
Evaluating the quality of products and providing advice in the refinement of manufacturing engineering systems and processes.
Resolving or coordinating the resolution of complex technical issues.
What You Will Have:
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of machining and related processes and methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Technology Advising: Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.
Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
Product Development in Manufacturing: Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
Considerations For Top Candidates:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering Requires an accredited degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science
Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Mandarin/Chinese or Spanish
Advanced degrees in engineering (M.S. or Ph.D.)
Experience across multiple business units or exposure to cross-functional environments

Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
