On behalf of our client we are recruiting for a Finance and Accounting Manager. They will lead and internalize the accounting and financial operations in Romania and other European locations. This role will be responsible for end-to-end accounting activities, tax compliance, financial reporting, and strategic support to management ensuring both operational efficiency and full regulatory compliance.
Accounting and Compliance
- Lead and execute all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets
- Ensure full and timely compliance with Romanian statutory requirements and tax regulations, including preparation and submission of:
- Monthly/quarterly/annual tax declarations to ANAF
- Statutory financial statements
- Reports for other local authorities (e.g., labor, statistics, environment, etc.)
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation in compliance with OMFP and internal audit requirements
- Prepare and process payroll accounting entries, and liaise with the HR payroll to ensure accurate payroll reporting
- Monitor intercompany transactions and prepare necessary reconciliations and documentation
- Ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing and coordination with clients regarding billing schedules, supporting documents, and debt follow-up necessary
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare accurate and timely management reports: P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow statements, and variance analyses
- Coordinate with the Canadian parent company to meet internal reporting deadlines and provide necessary financial data
- Develop and update monthly forecasts and cash flow projections
- Support budgeting processes and track actuals against budget
- Assist with project-based financial planning (e.g., cost monitoring for new market entry, hybrid workforce analysis)
Audit and Controls
- Coordinate and lead annual statutory audit and internal audit processes
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with corporate financial policies and procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
Team Collaboration and Transition Leadership
- Lead the insourcing process of accounting from the external provider, including:
- Systematizing internal accounting procedures
- Taking over and validating historical accounting records
- Managing the setup and configuration of accounting systems and tools (in coordination with IT and Corporate)
Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related economic discipline
- At least 7โ10 years of relevant experience, including hands-on accounting and tax responsibilities
- Licensed Chartered Accountant (CECCAR), authorized to:
- Submit statutory declarations and financial reports to ANAF and local authorities
- ACCA, CPA, or other international certifications are a plus
- Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting regulations (OMFP) and tax legislation
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Proven experience preparing and submitting tax returns, financial statements, and declarations to ANAF and other authorities
- Excellent command of Excel; experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Saga, Navision, SAP, or similar)
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, self-driven approach
- Fluency in Romanian and English (spoken and written)
