Freight Specialist (Import/Export) - Work From Home

  • Prepare, manage, and verify all necessary shipment documentation, including but not limited to: Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Customs Declarations.
  • Ensure all shipments meet international shipping regulations and adhere to country-specific requirements.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate import/export clearance.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems for all shipping documents and regulatory filings.
  • Monitor shipment statuses and proactively address any documentation or compliance issues that may arise.
  • Support operational teams by ensuring documentation deadlines are met to avoid shipment delays.
  • Stay updated on changes to import/export regulations and ensure company compliance.
  • Assist in resolving any customs-related issues, disputes, or compliance audits.
  • Provide administrative support to logistics and compliance teams as needed.
  • Other role-specific duties as they arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in import/export freight operations, logistics, or international shipping.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping documentation and customs compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, trade regulations, and customs processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and documentation requirements simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative logistics team.
  • Experience with freight forwarding software or customs clearance systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of compliance certifications (e.g., ISO, AEO) is a plus.
  • Prior experience working within an international freight forwarding company advantageous.
