Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience with cost competing technologies, processes and products to guide and influence product development and decisions.
- 7 years of experience in Global Supply Management (GSM) work, with 3 years of experience in commodity management, sourcing or supply chain management.
- 3 years of experience managing category strategies and sourcing teams across multiple categories for both goods and services in the indirect category space.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
- 7 years of experience in commodity management, consumer electronics related sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Experience with sourcing and procurement for modules or packaging.
- Ability to create or optimize cost models for evaluating modules, components, and new processes.
- Excellent communication, people management, sourcing, and collaboration skills.

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.
In this role, you will serve as a primary contact for internal teams and external partners/suppliers for sourcing and procurement. You will build consensus with both internal and external stakeholders and will be the main contact for negotiations and supplier management. Additionally, you will lead and support the development, implementation and management of commodity strategies to provide Google's Devices and Services Product Group (DSPG) with optimal pricing, flexibility, quality, and supply assurance. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Quality Engineering and Operations Teams, you will be the commercial owner with a focus on contracts and pricing, and on maintaining long-term strategic supplier relationships.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies for consumer hardware. Identify and implement new opportunities for cost savings and cost avoidance including optimizing the supply base for Google’s consumer hardware needs.
- Develop a deep understanding of cost competitive technologies, processes, and products to guide and influence product development decisions. Create cost models for new modules, components, and processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and risks related to product design and business plans.
- Develop global sourcing strategies with defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigation, and supply planning agreements.
- Address all areas of global sourcing and supply chain management including commodity business plans, supplier performance management, global market, building up a strong supply base that’s the right fit for Google, pricing analysis, agreements and procurement support. Able to travel up to 35% of the time.
