A Guidewire Policy Center Developer designs, develops, and implements software solutions for insurance companies, focusing on configuring and customizing the Policy Center platform using GOSU, Java, and integration tools. Key responsibilities include configuring product models, rating engines, and business rules, developing integrations with external systems, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, writing clean code, performing unit and integration testing, and troubleshooting production issues. Essential skills include proficiency in GOSU, Java, SQL, XML/JSON, REST APIs, and familiarity with Agile methodologies, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development & Configuration: Design, develop, and configure Guidewire Policy Center components, including the product model, rating engine, business rules, UI (PCF), data models, and batch processes.
  • Customization: Implement enhancements, new product lines, and customizations using Guidewire's GOSU programming language and Java.
  • Integration: Develop and support integration with external systems (e.g., billing, claims, third-party providers) using web services and APIs.
  • Collaboration: Work with business analysts, solution architects, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Testing & Debugging: Conduct unit testing, participate in integration testing, debug code, and resolve defects and performance issues.
  • Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production Guidewire applications and provide technical support.
  • Agile Participation: Engage in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for configurations, integrations, and system architecture.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

· Programming Languages: GOSU (Guidewire Object Studio), Java/J2EE.

· Technologies: REST APIs, XML, JSON, SQL.

· Tools: Guidewire Studio, Git, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Experience:

· Proven experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter development and configuration.

· Hands-on experience with the PolicyCenter Data Model, Rules Engine, Product Designer, and Rating Engine.

Soft Skills:

· Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

The annual salary for this position will be in the range of $100K-$130K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Qualifications

  • Possess strong expertise in Guidewire Tools and accelerators ensuring high-quality product architecture.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in GW APD and Guidewire Insurance Suite Integration contributing to seamless operations.
  • Have experience with PCF and Gosu enabling effective customization and extension of applications.
  • Experience in the Payments domain is a valuable asset enhancing domain-specific solutions.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work model.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into the architecture.


Certifications Required

Guidewire Certified Professional Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is a plus.
