About the role
As a Lead Azure Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, implementing, and overseeing scalable cloud-based data solutions using Azure technologies, while guiding technical teams and ensuring data integrity, performance, and alignment with business objectives. You will be a valued member of the Healthcare team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data integration and transformation processes.
In this role, you will:
9+ years of technical and development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior engineering role
3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks
Strong expertise in ETL, SQL, and PySpark
Proven experience managing cloud applications and ensuring network security
Proficiency with Git repositories and release pipelines

What you need to have to be considered:
Lead the design and development of enterprise-grade data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks. Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance across large-scale ETL/ELT processes.
Take ownership of cloud-based data infrastructure, overseeing deployment, performance, and security. Champion best practices in cloud governance, network security, and compliance.
Serve as a strategic partner to data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders. Facilitate requirement gathering, solution design, and integration efforts to align data initiatives with business goals.
Define and enforce standards for version control, automated deployments, and code quality using Git repositories and release pipelines. Mentor team members on DevOps best practices.
Guide the team in writing efficient SQL and PySpark code, conducting performance tuning, and resolving complex data issues. Promote a culture of data accuracy and operational excellence.

Salary and Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until September 22, 2025.
The annual salary for this position is between $70,000 - $117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
