Light Vehicle Mechanics - Rail Workshop

Our client is a leading provider of transport maintenance services across Australia. Due to ongoing contracts, we are seeking multiple skilled Mechanical Trades to based in their Newcastle based Workshop.

What’s Involved?

• Rebuilding mechanical underframes for Passenger Trains (bogies)
• Production related Fitting
• Machine Operating - Lathes and Borers
• Building Brakes
• Strip and reassemble wheel sets from the Rail Industry
• Mount and overhaul bearings
• Operating a wide range of hand and power tools
• Collaborating as part of a dynamic team

What We’re Looking For:

• Any Mechanical Trade - Light Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Fitters or Plant Mechanics
• A great attitude and willingness to learn
• Rail maintenance experience is highly regarded, but not essential
• Forklift ticket is a plus
• Must be able to pass a Rail Category Medical
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

What We Offer You:

• $58.81 - $62.40 per hour (casual rate based on experience)
• Day shift (Monday - Friday)
• Afternoon shift available ($67.63 - $71.76 / hr)
• Machine Specific Training provided
• Overtime available
• Ongoing work with the potential for a permanent position
• Potential for further training and upskilling
• Based in Cardiff
• Immediate start
