As a Machine Systems Integration Engineer within Caterpillar Trimble Control Technology, CTCT, you will play a vital role in the team developing technology that works for our customers. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the specification, design, and integration of future machine control systems for earthmoving and paving machines (excavators, bulldozers, graders, etc.). You will utilize your detailed knowledge of practical applications of electrical, software, and mechanical engineering skills to lay out system architecture and the systems that are dependent on them. In addition, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define and deliver innovative products.

What You Will Do:

  • Define and develop system architectures for machine control systems, including communication protocols and device integration.

  • Specify, design, and document system-level interactions between hardware, software, and vehicular control systems.

  • Ensure effective network layout, messaging protocols, and system security within machine control environments.

  • Create harness and cable schematics to support system connectivity.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on networking systems, electrical schematics, and software requirements.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system design methodologies.

Requirement:

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Software, or Mechatronics engineering curriculum.

  • Travel 25%

What skills you will have:

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:

  • Working knowledge of understanding and developing electronic system diagrams and schematics

  • Capable of translating customer needs to functional software requirements, validating functionality, and guiding issue resolution

  • Capable of designing and interfacing with vehicular communication and control systems.

  • Working knowledge in automotive, machine, or equipment design fields

Problem Solving:

  • Extensive capability in system troubleshooting to get to root cause and solution

Conceptual Thinking:

  • Ability to turn market requirements into engineering specifications

  • Flexible and adaptable in dynamic, evolving environments

Effective Communications:

  • Proactive communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate complex concepts clearly

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
