The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will play a crucial role in the efficient and effective management of the monitoring and evaluation aspects of the overall iDE project in the region. Based in Nairobi, Kenya this role involves leading regional-level reporting, monitoring, and evaluation activities. The Officer will provide strategic direction and technical support to project teams, ensuring that they meet monitoring plan targets and objectives while maintaining the high standards set by the project. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary project team at the regional level, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for several key tasks.

Prepare reports and maintain databases in line with standard formats and requirements. ● Facilitate and support field teams in reporting progress on activities as per the Detail Implementation Plan (DIP), collaborating closely with other project staff. ● Develop and update monitoring tools to align with reporting needs provided by the central M&E team. ● Build the capacity of project staff in data collection and reporting. ● Provide technical support and guidance to project staff to ensure effective and timely reporting of project activities. Page 1 of 4 Job Description ● Adhere to M&E reporting and documentation requirements and donor guidelines. ● Offer feedback to field teams to enhance report quality and meet project targets. ● Support the development of action plans and strategies. ● Collaborate with relevant officials and personnel to consolidate reports. ● Participate in M&E-related activities and other relevant initiatives at different levels. ● Supervise and guide field staff, monitor and follow up on field-level project activities to ensure accurate reporting. ● Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual progress reports for the district and regional levels, as required by the M&E reporting system. ● Ensure staff reporting meets deadlines and quality standards accurately. ● Oversee the proper collection, processing, and documentation of information required for M&E and project implementation at district and regional levels. ● Provide support and maintenance to existing MIS systems and maintain documentation for smooth operation and easy system maintenance. ● Supervising data collection processes during periodic evaluation and assessments. This will include review of data collection tools, enumerators training, actual data collection and analysis. ● Any other duties as assigned by the organisation.

Requirements

Experience working in the agriculture and nutrition sector with a market systems development approach

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of institutions.

Experience with overseeing or implementing both quantitative and qualitative data collection activities such as surveys, focus group discussions, etc

Advanced proficiency in using standard software, knowledge of common ICTs, and their use in agricultural extension systems.

  • Specifically, a range of mobile data collection tools, ideally those based on ODK
  • Experience with using an MIS for data management

Demonstrated ability to write reports, success stories, and promotional materials.

Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multicultural environment.

Have a listening as well as analyzing capacity to make the operational activities more comprehensive and easier to conduct.

Having a two-wheeler license would be an added advantage.

Have a humble and polite personality with professional skills

Good spoken and written skills in both English and Swahili

  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word processing, Database management, SPSS, STATA or other statistical packages
  • Analytical Skills for data analysis, including the ability to collect, process, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to make informed decisions.
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and data management using STATA,SPSS,  R Programming,
  • Proven data analysis and report writing skills 
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring, and other formal and non-formal methods
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and written/verbal communication skills, including in cross-cultural settings;
