Critical to our development pipeline. With your comprehensive understanding of best practices, ability to avoid unnecessary complexity, and technical expertise across multiple aspects of video game programming, you’ll be making a huge impact on the exciting projects we work on.
Responsibilities
- Write high quality and reliable code on a timely basis.
- Occasionally oversee and mentor junior engineers on the team.
- Be hands-on with code, implementing features and attending to bug fixes as needed.
- Working closely with other disciplines collaboratively on your project.
- Collaborate with teams to deliver testable builds in regular fashion.
- Be proactive in tackling technical issues.
Requirements
- Experience in UE5.
- Advanced knowledge of C++ and/or C#.
- Experience in PC and/or console programming.
- UE Networking/Replication: Hands-on experience implementing and debugging networked features using UE’s replication framework. Candidates must have worked directly on systems that needed robust multiplayer synchronisation.
- Networked Physics in UE: Practical experience handling physics-driven objects over a network, including dealing with edge cases like jitter correction, ownership transfers, and authority hand-offs in complex scenes.
- Network Optimisation: Demonstrated history of profiling and optimising network bandwidth and performance in UE-based multiplayer projects.
Desirables
- Networked Vehicles in UE: Experience building or maintaining networked vehicle systems where vehicle control and replication fidelity are a key gameplay pillar. (e.g., racing, vehicle combat, or traversal-centric games).
- Physics Engine Integration: Familiarity with integrating or fine-tuning physics systems in networked environments, including third-party engines like PhysX or Chaos.
- Console Experience: Previous experience shipping networked titles on console platforms (PS5 and/or Xbox Series).
