Operations Manager
About The Role
Our client is a leading civil contractor based on the beautiful South Coast region of South Australia. Renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the state, they are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join their dynamic and growing team.
Reporting to the General Manager, this pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of civil, structural, mechanical and piping projects, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and adherence to the highest safety and quality standards. About You
To be successful for this role, you will have:
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of project managers, site supervisors, and operational staff
- Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of multiple civil, structural, mechanical and piping projects, from tender to handover
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
- Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with project delivery
- Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures
- Provide regular reports on project progress, performance, and financial status to senior management
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Operations Manager or similar senior leadership role within the civil construction or related industry
- Demonstrated experience in managing civil construction and piping projects, including earthworks, drainage, roadworks, and utility installations
- Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Demonstrated business development and sales experience
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Solid financial acumen and experience with budget management
- Thorough knowledge of WHS regulations and quality assurance procedures
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field are highly regarded
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel around the state for projects
