As a leader in utility and fiber engineering, we pride ourselves on delivering high-performance projects that empower communities across the U.S. We’re seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Engineering to lead our engineering execution, drive operational excellence, and align team efforts with strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day production operations across multiple markets, managing Project Managers, Team Leads, and Engineering Coordinators to ensure timely, high-quality design deliverables;
  • Lead capacity planning, task prioritization, and escalation handling to keep projects on track;
  • Facilitate operational stand-ups, enforce delivery deadlines, and track KPIs like design throughput, permitting readiness, and quality assurance compliance;
  • Identify process bottlenecks and champion continuous improvement, automation, and workflow standardization;
  • Collaborate closely with GIS, Permitting, QA, Fielding, and Offshore Teams to maintain alignment and resolve challenges;
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new engineering staff and vendors;
  • Monitor software tools usage (Smartsheet, Vetro, IQGeo, AutoCAD, ArcGIS) to ensure consistent tracking, reporting, and handoffs;
  • Prepare performance reports and provide insights to the Director of Engineering and executive leadership;
  • Represent engineering delivery in cross-functional meetings with PMO, Construction, and Business Development teams.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in telecom, utility, or infrastructure engineering operations;
  • Minimum 2 years managing engineering projects or production teams;
  • Deep understanding of OSP design lifecycle, permitting processes, QA/QC, and design-to-build workflows;
  • Proficient in Smartsheet, Excel, Vetro, IQGeo, Google Earth, AutoCAD, and/or ArcGIS;
  • Strong organizational, time management, and delegation skills;
  • Familiarity with engineering KPIs such as cycle time, backlog health, throughput, and revision rate;
  • Effective leadership skills, including meeting facilitation, deadline management, conflict resolution, and team motivation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating with offshore engineering teams or international vendors;
  • Background in process improvement, automation, or SOP development;
  • Knowledge of grant-funded projects (e.g., BEAD, RDOF) and telecom client standards;
  • Experience leading training programs or internal team development initiatives.
