We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Packaging Engineer in Champaign, IL.

Job Summary:

The Packaging Engineer executes solutions on packaging design and usage and related safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Additional Info:

  • This position requires the candidate to work a 5 day-a-week schedule in the Champaign, IL office.

What You Will Do:

  • Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain opportunities.
  • Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues
  • Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate
  • Lead Green Belt projects
  • Review packaging so parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion
  • Design for transport efficiency
  • Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting
  • Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase
  • Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations
  • Develop kitting packaging
  • Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
  • Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
  • Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements
  • Audit conformance to packaging specification
  • Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing
  • Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E)

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent engineering degree
  • Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Packaging: Knowledge of packaging tools, approaches and practices; ability to package products and components safely and attractively.

  • Supply chain knowledge

  • Experience with PowerBi

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
