Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

Function Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and execute New Product Introduction (NPI) projects aligned with the Customer Ready Packaging (CRP) strategy within the Aftermarket organization. The Packaging Engineer will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and expanding packaging capabilities across the EAME Aftermarket supply base.

This position requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including Suppliers, Procurement, Operations, and Global Parts Packaging teams, to ensure seamless integration of CRP solutions into existing supply chain processes.

In addition to CRP-related initiatives, the role supports ad-hoc packaging projects with both global and regional scope, focusing on improvements in safety, cost efficiency, and supply chain velocity. The Packaging Engineer is also expected to proactively identify opportunities to enhance part packaging and related processes.

A key aspect of the role includes validating packaging solutions and supporting packaging inspections conducted at the Grimbergen facility.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • NPI lead on EAME supply base

  • Lead and/or support Global/Regional Packaging initiatives

  • Provide clear directions on Packaging related questions to the supply base

  • Validate packaging solutions

  • Identify and implement packaging optimization opportunities to improve Safety, Quality and/or Velocity

  • Execute Supplier Packaging Quality Audits

  • Host meetings, visit the supply base

  • Develop and maintain packaging standards

  • Overseeing the quality of packaging materials and processes

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skills

  • Preferably project management experience

  • Technically skilled, hands-on mentality

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings or willingness to learn

  • Affinity for packaging and willingness to develop packaging knowledge

  • Affinity with Operational inbound processes or willingness to learn these

  • Affinity with the Aftermarket supply base

  • Preferable minimum a bachelor's degree
