Requirements

We are hiring for a fast-growing, profitable fintech startup headquartered in Bangalore. Founded six years ago by a team of IIT alumni, the company has raised over $40 million in funding and is backed by some of the most reputable global investors. The organization is scaling rapidly in the digital payments space and is on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Product Manager to lead initiatives in UPI and payment systems.

About the Role:

As a Product Manager – Payments, you will be responsible for owning and driving the strategy, design, and execution of UPI-based and other digital payment solutions across P2P (peer-to-peer) and P2M (peer-to-merchant) flows. You’ll work closely with engineering, business, operations, compliance, and design teams to build seamless, scalable, and secure payment journeys.

You will be expected to deliver high-impact payment experiences that comply with regulatory requirements, scale with volume, and delight users. A deep understanding of UPI infrastructure, NPCI protocols, and fintech industry dynamics will be critical to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle of UPI and digital payment products, from concept to launch to iteration.
  • Design intuitive user journeys and drive adoption for both P2P and P2M payment flows.
  • Define detailed product requirements, collaborate with tech teams on solution design, and ensure timely execution and delivery.
  • Collaborate with NPCI and banking partners to ensure regulatory compliance and integration integrity.
  • Own KPIs related to payment success rates, latency, user adoption, and transaction volumes.
  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, data, compliance, and business functions to define the roadmap and prioritize feature development.
  • Drive A/B testing, user research, data analysis, and feedback loops to continuously improve the product.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive payments landscape and evolving NPCI guidelines.
  • Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, ensuring alignment on goals and timelines.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in product management, preferably in a high-growth fintech or digital payments company.
  • Strong exposure to UPI and deep knowledge of NPCI frameworks, transaction flows, and compliance standards.
  • Experience working on scalable consumer-facing products with high transaction volumes.
  • Strong analytical mindset with comfort in working with data, dashboards, and SQL for decision-making.
  • Proven track record of delivering impactful features that meet both user needs and business goals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience with agile product development practices.

Good to Have:

  • Prior experience working with banking APIs and third-party payment gateways.
  • Exposure to fraud detection, payment dispute resolution, and transaction security features.
  • Understanding of other payment channels like cards, wallets, and BNPL is a plus.
