The Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) is responsible for managing all aspects of contractual and financial elements of construction projects. This registered and experienced role ensures value for money, cost control, risk mitigation, and compliance with statutory and contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts from feasibility through to final account.
  • Conduct detailed measurement and take-offs from drawings and specifications in accordance with industry standards.
  • Compile tender documentation, evaluate contractor bids, and support procurement strategies.
  • Administer contracts, including payment certifications, cost variations, and claims assessments.
  • Monitor project expenditures, track cost performance, and report on financial progress to stakeholders.
  • Advise on contractual matters, risks, and mitigation strategies throughout project execution.
  • Liaise with project teams, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment on cost and contractual issues.
  • Prepare and negotiate final accounts with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and professional guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Professionally registered with SACQSP

Related Experience

5 - 7 years practical experience in the construction

And

3 years Nuclear Power Plant or similar
