Purpose: The Project Lead (Buildings) represents the interest of VDL in all project phases and aspects including planning, executing, monitoring, and commissioning building projects. Building project is long term project which needs development plan over time, from conception through completion, and ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints. This role needs to have a mindset emphasizing long term stability and growth while balancing current project performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary contact point between construction team, architects, consultants, and clients. Facilitate & join regular project meetings, reporting, and resolve conflicts between stakeholders
  • Ensure client requirements and expectations are met, suggest potential alternatives, offer technical input for client decisions. Advocate for the client's interest in all project related discussions and decisions
  • Prepare and present project summary & milestones, manage critical path, identify challenges, and recovery plans
  • Track and document systematically the status of all ongoing project works, log essential documents and contracts. Facilitate closure of building project, punch list, contracts, and documents; for handover to final user.
  • Manage project risks, initiate timely escalations to keep clients informed, manage and control project scope and budget. Raise any project related risks and concerns with stakeholders timely.
  • Manage, control, negotiate, and track project scope changes, VOs, and cost impacts. Discern between needs and wants. Between what is required for regulatory approvals, cost savings, client requirements, and constructability.
  • Work with consultants to review BQ, VO, scope, engineering, and design changes; obtain client approvals
  • Work on facility improvement initiatives and projects for client facilities management team
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with at least 3 years in project management in government/industrial building projects.
  • Preferably with experience working with A1 or A2 construction company
  • Strong presentation, communication, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Proactive and independent, able to track and report on project status independently
  • Effective communication and management skills, including influencing contractors
  • Comfortable working in a construction site environment
  • Soft skills, able to communicate with clients professionally
  • Willing to work overtime to see through critical works
