Role Overview:


We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the dismantling of industrial facilities within a high-demand, safety-critical environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of the project, ensuring that all activities are performed in accordance with the project scope, timeline, budget, and safety standards.

The Project Manager will be located in Athens and will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and serve as the key liaison between the client, the engineering teams, and company leadership. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and hands-on experience in dismantling, decommissioning, or heavy industrial projects

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Project Planning and Management:

  • Develop and manage the overall project execution plan, including schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise on-site dismantling operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Coordinate all project stakeholders, including subcontractors, engineers, consultants, and client representatives.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews to ensure milestones are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Manage procurement processes for equipment, materials, and services required during dismantling.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, permits, change orders, and technical records.
  • Ensure proper segregation, handling, and disposal of dismantled materials in line with environmental and legal requirements.
  • Lead project meetings and prepare periodic status reports for upper management and clients.

2.    On-Site Coordination and Execution:

  • Lead daily site operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution of all dismantling activities.
  • Supervise field teams, subcontractors, and equipment operators, enforcing compliance with work plans and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate the sequencing of dismantling works
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings, and immediate incident response if required.
  • Liaise with site engineers and foremen to resolve technical or logistical issues in real time.
  • Verify that dismantling is performed according to drawings, method statements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the identification, tagging, and removal of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Support the site documentation process by maintaining daily logs, photographs, and HSE records.

3.    Financial Oversight and Reporting:

  • Monitor expenditures and ensure strict budget adherence in collaboration with the finance department.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical and financial reports for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
  • Track and control project expenditures, including labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and material costs.
  • Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices in coordination with procurement and finance teams.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts, identifying deviations and proposing corrective measures.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial documentation, including progress payment applications and variation claims.
  • Support contract administration, including change orders, delay justifications, and claims management.

4.    Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols while ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

  • Foster a strong safety-first culture across all site activities through ongoing team training, awareness initiatives, and behavioral supervision.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and incident reporting, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Oversee the correct handling, labeling, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with legal and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with HSE officers, external auditors, and environmental agencies as required.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, emergency drills, and site safety briefings to reinforce compliance and preparedness.

5.    Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams with guidance and motivation to achieve project goals.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies to secure permits and maintain compliance throughout projects.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals with high performance and accountability.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among site personnel, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
  • Manage expectations and build strong relationships with all stakeholders through transparent, timely, and solution-focused dialogue.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, progress reviews, and issue resolution sessions to maintain alignment and momentum.
  • Address conflicts or challenges proactively, ensuring a positive and productive working environment.
  • Encourage team engagement, professional development, and ownership of safety and quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client and management reporting, ensuring clear and concise updates.

Requirements

Professional Experience

  • At least 10 years of on-site project management experience in large-scale projects.
  • Similar experience in industrial dismantling or decommissioning projects would be an asset.

Academic Background & Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP Certification preferred.

Languages & Technical Capabilities

  • Fluent in Greek and English (both written and spoken).
  • Competency in digital tools and reporting software for project monitoring and documentation.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of motivating diverse teams in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent project planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities using tools like MS Project or Primavera.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex challenges under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Budget management and cost control.
  • Proficiency in contract administration and understanding of contractual frameworks (e.g., FIDIC).
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to industrial dismantling projects.
  • Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in project execution.
  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and mitigation.
