General job description:
Quality technicians are responsible for conducting testing during manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with quality standards. Quality technicians are involved in the entire course of manufacturing. They inspect incoming materials, analyze trial products during development, or test finished goods. During these processes, they record and analyze the results to decide whether to approve or reject specific products. Technicians use this data to solve production issues and recommend improvements. Other duties may include preparing inspection plans, training new technicians, and evaluating quality cost.
•Perform periodic documented testing of rubber materials, both manufactured and purchased – including material trials and retesting, to quality specifications
•Record quality test results, communicate the results, issue quality alerts and deviations as needed
•Monitor test data, identify trends in data and communicate as needed; Statistical Process Control (SPC)
•Perform periodic reviews of testing standard work and recommend any needed changes
•Perform SAP transactions needed to place material in/out of quality hold
Essential Responsibilities:
•Support Product Teams
•Maintain Quality and Processes
•Conduct material testing
•Communicate test results in a timely manner
•Verification of quality of materials, including both manufactured and purchased, to specifications
•Verification of quality of materials for trials or re-testing as required
•Reviews incoming material certificates of analysis (COA’s) on an audit basis for compliance to specifications and records audit results
•Records quality test results, communicates results, issues quality alerts and deviations as needed
•Monitors quality standards of manufactured materials
•Monitor test data, identify trends in data and communicate to supervisor and process engineer(s) as needed; Statistical Process Control (SPC)
•Performs periodic reviews of testing standard work and recommends any needed changes
•Perform SAP transactions needed to place material in/out of quality hold
•Be proficient in testing in order to provide back up for other testing position(s)
•Complete needed equipment calibrations and preventive maintenance; work with third party calibration during periodic calibrations; communicate any calibration concerns
Shift details:
1st - Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm
Basic Qualifications:
•2 years manufacturing experience
Top candidates will also have:
•Experience using testing equipment (tensometer – Instron – for peel test/faceload/compression set/compression modulus, rheometer, Mooney viscosity, specific gravity, pyrometer (temperature probe), durometer (hardness tester), rubber mill)
•Experience using metrology equipment (OGP, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc)
•Blueprint and Engineering Specification reading and interpretation
•Proficiency in Eclipse, EtQ, Bluehill, InfinityQS, EPIX, and MS Office applications (emphasis on Excel)
•Mechanical aptitude
•High school diploma or equivalent

Summary Pay Range:
$22.65 - $28.25Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
