We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Medical Coding Specialist to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Your work directly supports both the quality of patient care and the financial integrity of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient medical records for accuracy and completeness.
- Assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in line with official coding standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing and documentation regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve documentation inconsistencies and discrepancies.
- Stay updated with industry changes through continuous training and education.
- Perform audits to identify coding errors, denial trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Respond to coding-related questions from internal teams, providers, and insurance payers.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- AAPC or AHIMA certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is required.
- At least 3 years of medical coding experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with U.S. healthcare systems; U.S. experience is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding systems.
- Proficient in using coding tools and Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative remote environment.
- Willingness to work night shifts aligned with U.S. time zones (graveyard shift).
