What Youโ€™ll Do

In this role, you will provide direct mental health services and support to students in a school setting. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support studentsโ€™ emotional and behavioral needs
  • Develop and implement mental health interventions and support plans
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and school staff to promote a positive school climate
  • Support crisis intervention and prevention efforts
  • Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines
  • Participate in student support team meetings and contribute to planning and intervention
  • Provide consultation to staff and families regarding student mental health needs

Requirements

To apply, you should have:

  • A degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • Active New York State licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, or similar)
  • Experience working in elementary school settings
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices
  • Full-time availability for the 2025โ€“2026 school year in Niskayuna, NY

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with school-based systems (IEPs, 504s, MTSS, PBIS)
  • Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities
