About the role
As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, you will make an impact by ensuring the delivery of high-quality software through strategic test planning, execution, and automation. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to validate application functionality and performance.

In this role, you will:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and define the testing scope.
• Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans, including test types, priorities, and timelines.
• Create detailed test cases and scenarios based on user stories and functional specifications.
• Automate test cases using Java, Selenium, and Cucumber frameworks.
• Execute tests, review results, and log defects with clear reproduction steps using a defect tracking system.
• Manage test environments and test data to support efficient testing cycles.
• Conduct test reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Generate comprehensive test reports summarizing results, metrics, and identified issues.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Basking Ridge, NJ.

What you need to have to be considered:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in automation testing.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Selenium, and Cucumber.
• Experience in creating and executing detailed test plans and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools and test management systems.
• Ability to manage test environments and data effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

These will help you stand out:
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests.
• Knowledge of performance and security testing tools.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
• Experience with cloud-based testing platforms.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477– $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
