The Senior Candidate Quantity Surveyor supports the cost management and contract administration functions on complex projects, operating under the mentorship of a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS). This role combines technical knowledge with growing responsibility, providing leadership to junior team members while continuing to work toward professional registration.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for various project phases.
- Assist in evaluating tenders and developing contract documentation in line with project requirements.
- Support contract administration, including preparing interim payment certificates, tracking variations, and cost reporting.
- Conduct site measurements and progress assessments to verify contractor claims and support valuations.
- Assist in cost control, budget tracking, and preparation of financial forecasts.
- Contribute to the negotiation and agreement of final accounts under supervision.
- Participate in client and project meetings, providing cost-related input and documentation.
- Guide and mentor junior candidate quantity surveyors and interns.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, ethical practices, and internal quality systems.
- Maintain professional development records and work actively toward achieving PrQS registration.
Requirements
Registered as a candidate with SACQSP

7+ years practical experience in the construction

5 years Nuclear Power Plant or similar
