Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Science Lead with strong proficiency in Python and SQL, and deep understanding of the clinical domain, to lead data-driven initiatives that support healthcare operations, clinical research, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will drive the development of advanced analytics solutions, mentor a team of data scientists, and collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, IT, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the design, development, and deployment of data science models and analytics solutions tailored to clinical and healthcare datasets.

· Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling to uncover insights from structured and unstructured clinical data.

· Collaborate with clinical experts to translate domain knowledge into actionable data strategies.

· Build and optimize data pipelines using Python and SQL for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

· Ensure data integrity, compliance, and privacy in accordance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

· Guide and mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

· Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders through clear visualizations and reports.

· Support clinical trials, patient outcomes analysis, and operational efficiency projects with data-driven insights.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

· 7+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

· Strong programming skills in Python and advanced SQL.

· Proven experience working with clinical data, EHR systems, claims data, or healthcare analytics platforms.

· Familiarity with statistical modeling, machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

· Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and data governance.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly salary for this position is between $[109,000 - 123,000] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
