We are looking for a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer in Évora, Portugal

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, integration, and certification of aircraft electrical systems with a focus on EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems). You will ensure full compliance with aerospace regulatory standards while supporting design traceability, system modeling, and certification readiness.

Requirements

Your main tasks will be:

  • Define system requirements and electrical architectures for EWIS and aircraft systems
  • Use IBM DOORS for requirements management and MATLAB/SIMULINK for system modeling
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards: SAE AS-ARP, RTCA DO-160 / EUROCAE ED-14
  • Address certification requirements for safety (23.1309-1E), lightning (20-130B), and HIRF (20-158A)
  • Support testing, validation, and documentation of electrical installations
  • Liaise with OEMs, suppliers, and authorities to align on system compliance
  • Review supplier documentation and provide input for certification submissions

About you:

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrotechnical Engineering
  • You have 20+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems engineering
  • You have worked for at least 5 years in OEMs or EWIS/electrical parts suppliers
  • You are fluent in English (mandatory); Spanish and Portuguese are highly valued

Mandatory skills:

  • Experience with IBM DOORS and MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Strong knowledge of EWIS design and integration
  • In-depth understanding of FAA and EASA regulations:
    • FAR Parts 23, 91, 121, 135
    • EASA CS-23
    • FAA AC & EASA AMC
    • 23.1309-1E (Safety), 20-130B (Lightning), 20-158A (HIRF)
