The Senior Maintenance Manager will lead and manage a team, overseeing the allocation of workloads and the day-to-day operations within the workshop. This role requires the job holder to coordinate, schedule, monitor, and manage resources, while liaising with both internal and external key contacts to ensure work is completed on time and meets quality standards.
Key Responsilities
- Coordinate, schedule, and audit fleet maintenance repairs, including preventive, proactive, breakdown, predictive, mechanical, and electrical repairs for tractors, trucks, and trailers (both articulated and non-articulated).
- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure their proper implementation.
- Conduct facility inspections to identify and address any issues.
- Plan and manage all repair and installation activities, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
- Assign workloads and supervise maintenance staff.
- Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary to maintain operational continuity.
- Track expenses and control the maintenance budget to ensure cost-efficiency.
- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers, ensuring high-quality services and timely completion of tasks.
- Establish and implement maintenance procedures, ensuring they are followed consistently across the workshop.
- Inspect electrical and hydraulic systems in buildings and vehicles to ensure they function correctly and safely.
- Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities, highlighting issues and resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff.
- Ensure full implementation of workshop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent operations.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field.
Additional certifications in fleet maintenance, workshop management, or logistics operations are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in vehicle maintenance and workshop operations, preferably within the logistics, transportation, or heavy commercial vehicle industry.
- Hands-on experience with multi-axle articulated and non-articulated trucks, trailers, tankers, and other heavy-duty logistics equipment.
- Proven track record in managing workshop teams, scheduling maintenance tasks, and ensuring quality standards in repairs and servicing.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in heavy vehicles and trailers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance guidelines.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and diagnostic tools.
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations related to workshop and fleet maintenance.
