The Senior Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules to support successful project execution and delivery. This senior-level role collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure that planning activities are aligned with project goals, deadlines, and resource availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Collaborate with project teams to define work breakdown structures (WBS), milestones, and activity durations.
  • Analyze and monitor project progress, identifying schedule variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Produce regular planning reports, dashboards, and forecasts for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Lead schedule review meetings and provide expert advice on planning and time management strategies.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the master program and ensure alignment with the overall project timeline.
  • Assist in risk assessment and mitigation planning from a scheduling perspective.
  • Support change management processes by assessing the time impact of proposed changes.
  • Ensure planning practices comply with project controls standards and client requirements.
  • Mentor junior planners and contribute to the development of planning tools, templates, and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma in Built Environment or Engineering (NQF 7)

8+ years in planning and/or project Management OR 5 years’ work management scheduling at Nuclear Power Plant or similar

Other Requirements

Primavera P6 at expert level, MS Office at Practitioner level and basic knowledge of SAP (SAP PM2, SAP PPM, SAP PS)
