Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 4 years of experience in back-end applications development and server-side optimizations
  • 4 years of experience with infrastructure design, large-scale distributed systems, and software architecture.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience with software development in Kotlin or C++.
  • Experience with LLMs and agentic systems and products.

Google's Language Applications team is seeking outstanding, highly motivated Software Engineerss to work on a new product. We are building the next generation of AI-powered products, and need talented individuals to help bring them to life.

In this role, you will help in building with Google backend technologies
and developing real AI systems or agents for products. You will work in a small-team environment and will work to get a new product off the ground and collaborate effectively across different teams.

Labs is a group focused on incubating early-stage efforts in support of Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our team exists to help discover and create new ways to advance our core products through exploration and the application of new technologies. We work to build new solutions that have the potential to transform how users interact with Google. Our goal is to drive innovation by developing new Google products and capabilities that deliver significant impact over longer timeframes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop from scratch the next generation of AI technologies that empower Google users.
  • Develop functional product features that span back-end server technologies.
  • Work closely with research teams to apply state-of-the-art large language model (LLM) techniques.
  • Work in a changing team environment to rapidly develop a new product.
