Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience with iOS application development.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large scale application design and architecture.
  • Experience developing software using Swift and Objective-C.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years development experience with large scale iOS application.
  • Experience with iOS frameworks, architectural patterns and standard procedures.
  • Experience in a tech leadership role, including mentoring and guiding team members.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior iOS Tech Lead to join us. In this role, you will be leading the development of our next-generation, AI-powered contributor engagement features for the Google Maps on iOS app.The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and deployment of new features in Google Maps iOS app to grow maps contributor engagement.
  • Ideate, prototype, validate, and productionize AI-powered experience to enhance the contributor experience.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior iOS developers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Managers, UX across Geo teams to plan and execute on the Google Maps iOS app road-map.
  • Set technical direction to continually modernize the code base, improve code quality and velocity. Explore and incorporate the latest AI-augmented development tooling and best practices into the engineering workflow.
