Primary Function:
This is a key role supporting the APAC transportation function, including partnering with
carriers on freight services, analyze track freight cost, and work closely with 3rd party
transportation companies. The major focus of this position will be to coordinate and lead
implementation of best practice including freight audit, freight payment, and freight scorecards.
The position will include implementing transportation systems and processes, customer
collaboration initiatives, and transportation design modeling and implementation. The incumbent
will establish relationships with internal business unit customers, vendors, and Intuitive Surgical
external customers across different country organizations.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive the development, evaluation, and sustainability of the service provider network to
meet and exceed the requirements of Intuitive. The candidate will support cost controls,
performance metrics, capacity requirements, company growth, and business continuity.
• Partner with Transportation CI to identify annual transportation initiative pipeline that
meets or exceeds individual and team goals and provide cost certainty, improved
service, and quality to Intuitive divisional business units
• Lead building an RFQ process that will deliver significant freight savings and improve
customer service
• Lead carrier relationship management initiatives, which include coordinating, conducting,
managing, and reporting routine and formal carrier meeting reviews that drive
continuous carrier improvements, deliver business results, and identify areas of
opportunity.
• Support carrier management initiatives, which include coordinating, conducting,
managing and reporting formal carrier reviews that drive continuous improvement,
leverage best practice, and deliver results
• Manage the relationship between transportation operations and freight pay and audit.
• Carrier portfolio development including the analysis of new potential carrier service
offerings.
Ensure controls are in place and validated to support contractual, insurance and risk
management compliance with current legal regulations.
• Lead the development and implementation of Transportation Management best
practices across the organization.
• Lead the standardization of processes including contract development guidance
(including SLA’s)
• Responsible to prepare and control the transportation budget for the APAC business on
monthly, quarterly and strategic annual budget reviews.
• Present cost, quality, and strategic business cases to SC leadership and key cross
functional stakeholders
Key Required Skills, Knowledge, and Capabilities
• 5-10 years of Transportation Experience within APAC (Carrier Management / Strategy)
• Knowledge of APAC country specific transportation and regulatory requirements,
transportation contracts, and contractual language, and claims
• Working knowledge of APAC carrier operations, rate structures and contracts
• Ability to manage multiple cross functional and cross organizational projects
• Bring extensive industry knowledge and demonstrated ability to influence at the carrier
leadership level
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all
levels and departments both within and outside the company, fluent in English.
• Ability to manage multiple cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.
• Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Strong appreciation for analytics and critical thinking.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Travel up to 25%.
