Code Metal is seeking a highly capable and motivated Signal Processing Engineer with 5-7 years of experience to join our US-based team. This is a technical, remote position ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering and international collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in digital signal processing theory and practical implementation, as well as experience working closely with software and hardware teams to bring innovative systems to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers in Japan who are using MATLAB to describe the algorithms they want to run on digital signal processing (DSP) chips.
  • Work with a team in the United States to integrate your work into an automated pipeline.
  • Assist customers developing and optimizing real-time DSP systems for deployment on CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, or FPGAs.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams on system integration and optimization.
  • Share the burden of working across multiple time zones by taking some meetings early in the morning or late at night.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of product-level experience with Matlab developing and implementing DSP algorithms.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals, linear systems, probability, and statistical signal analysis.
  • Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python (NumPy/SciPy), and signal analysis libraries.
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills in both English and Japanese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with software-defined radio (SDR), radar systems, communications systems, or biomedical signal processing.
  • Experience with FPGA-based implementation of DSP algorithms (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Familiarity with RF systems, sensors, and data acquisition hardware.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques applied to signal processing problems.
