Job Description

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our Financial Services Operations (FSO) team, a specialized group within ServiceNow focused on building end-to-end workflows for the financial services industry. Our team delivers solutions across a wide range of use cases such as claims, disputes, fraud detection, customer onboarding, and complaints management—and many more. We design and build the systems that enable banks, insurers, and payment providers to simplify operations, improve compliance, and deliver exceptional customer experiences at scale.

Role Overview

This is a software engineering role where you will focus on backend development, workflow logic, and platform configuration. You’ll contribute to building core financial workflows, integrate with external systems like core banking platforms, insurance systems, and card networks (Visa/Mastercard), and develop user-facing experiences in ServiceNow Workspaces using UIB components. You will work closely with senior engineers and product managers to turn business needs into scalable, high-performance flows and services.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Design and implement backend workflows and data models for financial services use cases (claims, disputes, fraud, onboarding).
  • Configure and extend ServiceNow platform capabilities, including building UIB components for workspace pages.
  • Develop and integrate with external systems (core banking, insurance platforms, card providers) using REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Translate business requirements into efficient flows and scalable designs.
  • Ensure code is optimized for space and time complexity, with a focus on performance and reliability.
  • Participate in agile development cycles, peer reviews, and collaborative design discussions.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

Required:

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to transform business requirements into technical workflows.
  • Experience with JavaScript or similar programming languages, and Java or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs for system integration.
  • Solid understanding of data model design and backend development principles.
  • Commitment to delivering high-performance code.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Exposure to the ServiceNow platform (not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of AI/automation workflows and familiarity with LLMs (Large Language Models).
  • Interest in financial services systems (banking, insurance, payments).
  • Interest in UIB/workspace UI design.

PE25

 

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $123,500 - $191,500, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
