About the role
As a Software Engineering – Life & Annuities Insurance, you will make an impact by leading the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade software solutions tailored to the Life and Annuities Insurance domain. You will be a valued member of the Technology & Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
In this role, you will:
• Lead a team of engineers in delivering software solutions aligned with business goals and industry standards.
• Oversee the integration of technologies including SQL Server, Spring Boot, and Microservices to optimize system performance.
• Provide technical mentorship and foster a collaborative, innovative team culture.
• Ensure best practices in software development, including version control using GIT.
• Manage the development and deployment of RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
Work model:

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Monroe Township, NJ. What you need to have to be considered:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in the insurance domain.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST/SOAP web services.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Security and Spring Core frameworks.
• Familiarity with GIT and agile development methodologies.
These will help you stand out:
• Experience in the Life and Annuities Insurance sector with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements across the software development lifecycle.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for continuous learning and team development.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $63,000 to $99,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
