About the Role
As a Cloud Architect, you will make an impact by leading cloud transformation initiatives, designing robust AWS solutions, and guiding enterprise clients through complex migrations and implementations. You will be a valued member of our Cloud & Infrastructure Consulting team and work collaboratively with engineering, product, and leadership teams.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud solutions, with a focus on AWS, for large-scale enterprise clients.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and product teams, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Review and validate solution designs, software vendors, and service providers to ensure alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Drive proof-of-concept integrations, quantify business value, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate with peer architects and leadership on IT planning, integration strategies, and adoption of emerging technologies such as Generative AI and Agentic AI.

What you need to be considered

  • 15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in cloud architecture, migrations, and implementation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience in IT architecture with technical leadership across engineering and product teams.
  • Strong hands-on AWS cloud solution skills (including ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Kinesis/SQS, Lambda, RDS, S3, etc.).
  • Expertise in event-driven microservices and cloud-native architecture.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate business drivers and architectural decisions.

What will help you stand out

  • AWS Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect PRO).
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Knowledge of IT security, data management, and integration strategies.
  • Experience with emerging technologies such as Generative AI, Agentic AI, and their enterprise applications.
  • Experience providing hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a flexible hybrid position requiring 1-2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC. Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $98,853-158,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
