Sr. Python Backend Developer

As a Python Backend Developer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable backend solutions that power mission-critical client systems. You will be a valued member of the Digital Engineering team and collaborate closely with product managers, project leads, and cross-functional development teams to ensure high-quality technical delivery.
In this role, you will:
Design and build backend applications using Python, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
Translate product requirements into technical solutions and user stories.
Support development and testing across the software lifecycle, from integration to production deployment.
Address bug fixes and enhancements based on UAT, certification, and integration testing.
Collaborate with client stakeholders to prioritize deliverables, manage timelines, and guide technology teams.
Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and QA teams to ensure successful delivery and operation.

What you need to have to be considered:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
3–5 years of backend development experience.
Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks such as Django or Flask.
Experience designing and implementing RESTful services with a focus on scalability and reliability.
Strong understanding of database design (SQL and NoSQL) and ORM tools.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Solid grasp of algorithmic techniques and design patterns.
These will help you stand out:
Experience working in Agile environments and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to support change management and transition activities.
Exposure to enterprise-level backend systems and high-volume data processing.

The annual salary for this position is between $68,000 - $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
